Grade 3 and 4

Learning and Thriving with our Community in Grade 3/4

It has been a fortnight of continuing to connect with our community in a variety of ways in which has given us a sense of gratitude and pride to be surrounded by an amazing network of people and places around us.

A lot of learning has continued in the last fortnight, in which we have completed our Information texts and saw students produce amazing flipbooks to share their knowledge and facts on their chosen animal. To consolidate their understanding, students created a triorama to consolidate their learning and bring it to life. This unit has gone really well with our Inquiry and Science, showing an integrated approach to our learning. Students have been highly engaged and were so proud of what they had achieved, and proudly showed their work to their Grandparents and Special Visitors.

Grandparents and Special Persons Day

A big thank you to all our Grandparents and Special People who attended on Wednesday, 22nd October. The turnout was amazing, and the students loved having their special people in their learning spaces, and were so proud to show the amazing work they have been doing. The morning started with a beautiful performance from our Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students, followed by a morning of open classrooms for all to visit. In Grades 3 and 4, our visitors helped us design our habitat in the form of a triorama to connect to their chosen animal in their information text. The students had become experts in their chosen animal and could share the information with their grandparents and then create together. We all then shared in morning tea together before thanking everyone for coming and sharing a magical morning together.

UR Strong

Last week, the Grade 3 and 4 students participated in an incursion run by UR Strong. Tyson from UR Strong empowered the students with friendship skills. A teacher himself, he had real-life stories and experiences that students could relate to and provided them with skills and language to help them build and maintain healthy friendships. Students brought teddy bears along for the session, where they had fun role-playing to consolidate on the basics of friendship. The concepts that they covered were: The 4 Friendship Facts, qualities of a Green-Zone Friendship, and how to use the Friend-o-Meter to reflect on how they're feeling in their friendships. Students also practised a step-by-step on how to put out our Friendship Fires by Talking-it-Out.

Hooptime Regional Final

We are heading to the State Hooptime Finals!

Congratulations to our Grade 3/4 Future Star Girls.

This week they competed in the Regional Finals at the State Basketball Centre. The girls were competitive, showed great sportsmanship and had a fun day resulting in a win and two drawn games and then winning their final to get into the State Finals. Thank you to the parents who came along for the day to support the girls and to David for coaching. It was such a positive day.

Wear It Pink Day!

Andersons Creek Primary School turned PINK alongside the Warrandyte Community. A few weeks ago, we had the Pink Ladies attend our Assembly to talk about their initiatives in raising awareness and money for breast cancer. It was wonderful to turn our school pink in support of this cause. There was such a fun vibe around the school for a very worthy cause.
