Year 7 sports dala day: A celebration of team spirit and fun!
On Tuesday 22 October 2025, the Year 7 Sports Gala Day brought together students and staff from across the Macquarie Zone for a vibrant day of athleticism, camaraderie, and community. Held across four fantastic venues, students competed in soccer at Bernie Mullane, touch football at Samantha Riley Reserve, netball at Hawkesbury City Netball Courts, and basketball at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium.
Nine schools participated in the event: Kellyville, Crestwood, Glenwood, Rouse Hill, The Ponds, Windsor, Colo, Richmond and Hawkesbury High Schools. The day was a true celebration of sport, with students engaging in friendly competition and enjoying the opportunity to connect with peers from other schools.
It was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces—students laughing, cheering, and playing alongside their friends. The spirit of the day wasn’t about winning or losing, but about coming together, trying something new, and sharing memorable moments. Whether on the field or court, every student contributed to the positive energy that made the day so special.
Student Reflections: Here’s what some of our Year 7 students had to say about their experience:
A Big Thank You to Our Volunteers: A special shout-out goes to the incredible Year 9 and 10 students who volunteered their time to support the event. Their leadership and enthusiasm were invaluable—they helped manage teams, officiated games, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Their contribution truly elevated the day.
Staff Appreciation: We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff who gave up their time to make the Gala Day possible: K. Maloney, K. Upcroft, K. Ward, T. Swain, T. Brown, L. Cavallaro, K. Latham, and M. Jaaniste. Your support and commitment to student wellbeing and engagement are deeply appreciated.
Here’s to many more days of sport, smiles, and school spirit!
