Mathematics

Students in Years 7 to 10 have now completed their Mathematics yearly examinations. Feedback is currently being provided to each of these year groups by their classroom teachers. To further enhance students’ mathematical abilities, students should apply the advice given by their teachers on how to improve in identified areas.
Our Year 12 class of 2025-2026 will sit their first Mathematics HSC assessment tasks starting from week 7 with the Mathematics Advanced, the following week will be the Mathematics Extension 1 and the week after will be Mathematics Extension 2, Mathematics Standard 2 and Mathematics Standard 1. Students should ensure that they thoroughly prepare for their assessment tasks using their assessment notification and guidance provided by their classroom teachers.
Over the final few weeks of the term, continued diligence and seeking assistance as soon as students are unsure of a task at hand should ensure that students are able to maximise their understanding of mathematical concepts. These concepts covered will give students the necessary background knowledge required for further studies in Mathematics.

Maths Olympiad success for 7K and 8K!
As part of our commitment to providing opportunities for High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) students, classes 7K and 8K took part in the 2025 Maths Olympiad. In preparation, students practiced with past Olympiad papers during maths lessons, allowing them to explore mathematical thinking, share ideas, and discuss multiple solutions with their peers.
Over Terms 2 and 3, both classes completed four Olympiad Tests, each involving five progressively challenging problems to be solved within 30 minutes. Congratulations to Shreeda D., Jishnu S. and Renith D. for solving all five questions correctly in Test 1, and to Renith D. again in Test 3!
Across both classes:
- 4 students scored in the Top 10% Percentile Band
- 8 students placed in the Top 25% Percentile Band
Class 8K ranked in the Top 30% as a team
Well done to all students for successfully completing the Olympiad! Certificates and awards will be presented at our upcoming Recognition and Presentation Assemblies.
