Year 11 Students shine at Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum

This term, a group of our Year 11 student leaders participated in the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum — a transformative two-and-a-half-day live-in camp held at YMCA Yarramundi. The forum, which brings together students from across the Mitchell Electorate, is built around the core values of service, integrity, and courage.

Throughout the experience, our students engaged in team-building activities, small group discussions, and a community service project, all designed to help them reflect on what it means to lead with purpose. They heard from inspiring keynote speakers and mentors who shared personal stories of leadership, resilience, and making a difference.

The forum not only encouraged students to grow as individuals but also empowered them to return to their schools and communities with renewed confidence and a commitment to positive change. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, maturity, and the way they represented our school.

Thank you to Mr. Maistry and Mrs. Maloney for their guidance and support throughout the forum. Their leadership helped make this experience truly memorable for our students.

Adventure, Growth, and Grit in the Blue Mountains!

This week, a group of our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh participants embarked on an unforgettable Adventure Journey to the Coxs River, following the historic Six-Foot Track through the Megalong Valley in the stunning Blue Mountains.

This multi-day trek was more than just a physical challenge — it was a powerful opportunity for personal growth and teamwork. Along the way, students developed:

  • Confidence through navigating rugged terrain and unpredictable conditions
  • Resilience and determination as they pushed through fatigue and discomfort
  • Leadership and relationship skills by supporting one another and sharing responsibilities
  • Planning and problem-solving abilities in real-time situations
  • Personal and social well-being, fostered by reflection and connection with nature
  • Communication skills essential for group coordination and morale

The journey was a testament to the strength and spirit of our students. Their ability to manage emotions, overcome obstacles, and work collaboratively highlights the transformative impact of experiential learning.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing how these experiences shape their future endeavours.

We are thrilled to announce that Ben B., one of our talented student-athletes, has been selected to represent Team Australia in the upcoming U15 Oceania Championships! This exciting news was officially announced by Baseball Australia, marking a major milestone in Ben’s sporting journey.

Ben’s selection to the national roster is a testament to his dedication, skill, and passion for baseball. Competing at the international level is no small feat, and Ben’s achievement reflects countless hours of training, perseverance, and love for the game.

The U15 Oceania Championships will bring together the region’s top young talent, and we couldn’t be prouder to see Ben wearing the green and gold. His success is an inspiration to our school community and a reminder of what’s possible when hard work meets opportunity.

Let’s all cheer Ben on as he steps onto the international stage. We know he’ll make us proud!

Students use art to honour lives lost and inspire change

Throughout the term, at lunchtime, our students gathered for a powerful and heartfelt initiative — creating rose-inspired artwork to honour the 71 lives lost to domestic violence this year. Each rose served as a poignant symbol of remembrance, compassion, and a collective call to end violence.

These moving pieces will be publicly displayed at Castle Hill RSL and Castle Towers during the 16 Days of Activism in late November, amplifying student voices and raising awareness in our community.

A special thank you to Ms. Howell for leading this meaningful project and empowering our students to use creativity as a force for change. Through art, they’ve not only paid tribute to those we've lost but also sparked important conversations about safety, respect, and action.

International visitors bring joy and connection to campus

We were thrilled to welcome a group of German visitors to our school earlier this term, and what a memorable day it was! Their visit brought a vibrant energy to our campus, as students and staff alike enjoyed the opportunity to connect, share stories, and celebrate cultural exchange.

From exploring our facilities to engaging in lively conversations and forming new friendships, the day was filled with warmth, curiosity, and plenty of Aussie spirit. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of global connections and the joy of learning from one another.

We wish our German guests all the best as they continue their journey through Australia. May their travels be filled with sunshine, smiles, and unforgettable experiences. Thank you for spending the day with us — we hope it’s just the beginning of many more international friendships to come!

Celebrating World Teachers' Day

On Friday 31 October, we celebrated World Teachers’ Day—a special occasion to recognise the incredible work of educators who inspire, guide and support students every day. The day was marked with warmth, gratitude, and a few surprises that made it truly memorable.

This year, students were invited to write letters of appreciation to their teachers, sharing stories, memories and messages of thanks. The response was phenomenal. From Year 7 to Year 12, students penned heartfelt notes that highlighted the impact teachers have far beyond the classroom.

Here’s what some students had to say:

Tipping our hats to the teachers

In a playful twist, staff were invited to wear their favourite hats or dress as superheroes for the day—and they did not disappoint! World Teachers’ Day was a beautiful reminder that teaching is more than a job—it’s a vocation. And thanks to the voices of our students, our teachers were reminded just how much they matter.
