Mandarin

Last week, our whole school celebrated Chinese Culture Day, and it was a huge success! The day was filled with energy, colour, and excitement as students experienced a range of traditional Chinese cultural activities.

Everyone enjoyed participating in the ribbon dance, lion dance, dragon dance, and Chinese drumming workshop. The sounds of the drums, the rhythm of the music, and the vibrant movements truly brought the celebration to life!

We have received wonderful positive feedback from both students and staff, and it was fantastic to see everyone so engaged and enthusiastic in celebrating and learning about Chinese culture.

A big thank you to all staff and students for making the day so memorable! ❤️

Science

This fortnight our young scientists have focussed on: -

Foundation - The 3 Rs Reduce Reuse Recycle

This term the Foundation students will focus on the reuse of the Earth's precious resources. We commenced the term looking at the difference between rubbish filled and clean oceans, rivers and streets, reflecting on how that made us feel.

** Foundation students need a 1 or 2 litre plastic bottle to create a terrarium in session 3.

Level 1 & 2 - Sound

Level 1 and 2 have learnt about how our ears capture and funnel sound. We learnt that if we have bigger ears we can hear more! We have started to learn about the sections of an orchestra.

Level 3 & 4 - Plant Structures and Life Cycles

Level 3 and 4 started the term with seeds as the foundation of plants. We have explored the importance of plants for life on Earth. The students have planted some vegetables that we hope to harvest later in the term.

Level 5 & 6 - Energy

Our senior students have been learning about energy and considering how energy is transformed some one source to another. They conducted an experiment using a bouncing ball and a rocket. They observed the changes to the bounce of the ball and used their observations to explain the transformation of energy.
