Staying Safe with Your iPad
iPads are great for learning, playing games, and talking with friends. But just like crossing the road or riding your bike, it’s important to stay safe when using your iPad. Here are some easy tips to help you use your iPad safely and responsibly!
1. Keep Your Information Private
Never share personal details like your full name, address, school name, or phone number online. If an app or website asks for this kind of information, ask a parent or teacher first.
2. Use Strong Passwords
Your passwords keep your accounts safe. Choose a password that’s hard to guess—something with letters, numbers, and symbols. Don’t tell anyone your password except a trusted adult.
3. Be Kind Online
Always use kind words when chatting or commenting online. Remember: if you wouldn’t say it face-to-face, don’t say it on the internet. If someone is being mean, tell a parent or teacher right away.
4. Ask Before You Download
Some apps and games might cost money or collect your information. Always ask an adult before downloading anything new to your iPad.
5. Take Breaks
Too much screen time can hurt your eyes and make you tired. Try to take a break every 20–30 minutes. Stretch, play outside, or rest your eyes for a bit.
6. Stay in Safe Spaces
Only use websites and apps that your parents or teachers say are okay. Stick to learning games, educational videos, and safe kid-friendly apps.
7. Protect Your Device
Hold your iPad carefully and keep it in a safe place when you’re not using it. Use a case to protect it from drops and spills.
Remember
Your iPad is a wonderful tool for learning and fun—but safety always comes first! If you ever feel unsure about something online, stop and ask an adult you trust.
Special note for Year 2 students and families
Soon you will be Year 3 students and with that comes the extra responsibility of bringing an iPad from home to use as a school resource. Keep an eye our for more information regarding this later in the term where more information will be presented.
