ARTS AND STEM

ARTS: In Foundation we enjoyed painting with bubbles and creating group 'splat' painting. The different textures created over the last couple of weeks will be cut up and used in a collage artwork.
ARTS: Students in Year 1/2 worked very hard to draw a detailed and realistic image of a bee. These images are the first step to a final piece which will be used as part of a large mural for our school.
ARTS: Students in both middle and senior year levels are planning individual paintings of a chosen Australian animal. The varied selections will ultimately become the key feature to a new school mural inspired by a large scale artwork from the National Gallery of Victoria.
STEM: Junior classes celebrated our recent topic of 'Magnets' by enjoying some magnet car races. Students were challenged to manoeuvre their car around the tracks without touching the car with their magnet. We also designed our own race tracks/ pathways for paper clip characters/cars to move along.
Both 1/2 classes, enjoyed a recent excursion to Earth Ed to explore different STEM related interactive activities. Thank you to all the teachers who attended and ensured everyone enjoyed the day. Refer to the class page for images and further details.
STEM: Students in 3/4 are working with partners to design and construct a flying plane/vehicle. Students need to consider the four forces of flight (Thrust, Lift, Drag, Gravity) and work together to select successful and appropriate building materials and design decisions/revisions.
STEM: Students are working with partners to research a chosen natural disaster. This work compliments the activities completed during their recent 'Disaster Island' excursion at Earth Ed. Groups are recording facts about the disaster, preparation suggestions and consideration on how communities are adapting or introducing new systems and technology to better prepare, combat and save lives in the future.
