Principal's Report

We are officially past the halfway mark of the term.

Education Support Staff Appreciation Day

We celebrated the Education Support staff last week.  We have a wonderful team of ES staff who are committed to the children that they work with every single day.   It was our opportunity to thank them on Education Support Day.

Thank you so much for everything you do and for the times you go above and beyond for our students. Langwarrin PS is very lucky to have such wonderful ES staff.

Here are just a few comments from the Padlet:

Open Afternoon

It was fantastic to see many parents in classrooms last Wednesday for our open afternoon.  I appreciate the teachers’ efforts in planning a maths or STEM activity for all to participate in.  A special shout out to the marble mazes that were very creative!

Staffing

I would like to welcome Zsuzsa Kincs to Grade 2D.  Ms Kincs comes with a wealth of experience and we are very lucky she chose Langwarrin Primary School to come to.

In addition to this, other staffing news includes:

Isabella has been successful in picking up a Business Manager position at another school.  This is a huge step up for Isabella and we are very proud of her, as it is also a testament to the work she has done at LPS over the past 8 years.  It is, however, sad to lose such a fantastic staff member!  Isabella will officially finish at LPS on Friday 31st May.

There is much discussion about teacher shortages across the state.  These also impact LPS, especially with relief teachers.  Some days relief teachers (CRTs) run out.  Please understand that all schools are having these challenges and it’s not something we can control. At LPS we manage these circumstances pretty well but they do become challenging.

Respect

Please be considerate of all staff members when communicating.  Respectful communication is the only type of communication warranted at Langwarrin Primary School.

National Simultaneous Story Time

On Wednesday I read Bowerbird Blues by Aura Parker over the loudspeaker.  We participate in this event every year and find it a great way as a school to share some wonderful literature with all students (along with completing a variety of activities). Thanks to Ms Soutar for organizing this.

Have a great fortnight,

Mark Moorhouse
