Principal Message
Be Kind, Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be resilient, Be ready
Dear Parents and carers,
Our school, along with the 45 schools in the Diocese of Sale, celebrate Catholic Education Week from 17 May to 24 May.
The theme for this year's celebration is, A New Dialogue of Love, Hope, and Joy, inspired by the scripture passage, ‘See I am Making All Things New’ (Rev.21:5). This theme symbolises an optimistic and hope-filled perspective on the world and a renewed approach to fostering positive change.
The theme emphasises the belief that transformation and renewal are possible in all aspects of life through individual choices. By following the life and teachings of Jesus, and embracing the principles of compassion, peace, goodness, and justice, individuals can contribute to a more hopeful and joyful world, sowing seeds of positivity and hope.
Through this theme, Catholic schools aim to inspire people to reflect on the Christian message and to showcase their efforts in contributing to creating a better world.
The hope is for staff, students, families and parishes to embrace this meaningful time and for schools to celebrate their distinctive mission and share features that are special about our school.
Members of our Leadership team will be attending a Leadership Eucharist and Awards ceremony to celebrate and recognise outstanding service and excellence of staff and students in Catholic education in our diocese. Zora Popovich, one of our ESOs who is studying teaching as well, will receive a scholarship from the Diocese to assist with her studies.
-To begin the celebrations we had a workshop and concert with Andrew Chinn today. Each class had a session with Andrew learning a special song and in the afternoon these were showcased at a concert.
-On Monday morning we will have breakfast club as the RSL has kindly sponsored us to run the club two mornings a week.
-On Wednesday at 9.15 we have a whole school Mass to celebrate Catholic Education Week- all are welcome to attend.
-At 2.30 Wednesday afternoon all are welcome to visit the classes and experience life at Our Lady Star of the Sea.
-Throughout the week we have the scholastic book fair for students to come and browse.
We would love you to join us for these activities to help us celebrate Catholic Education Week 2024.
Keep smiling
Cathy
