Celebrating our Fete
After a well-deserved break, last Thursday our Fete and Fundraising committee came together with our Parents' Association to reflect on the incredible school fete that we held earlier in the year and to reveal the total amount that the event raised for our school.
As you would remember, the fete was a huge day that brought our community together to have lots of fun and showcase all that is wonderful about SKiPPS. The boost that such beautiful events give to our school's reputation in the local community cannot be measured and I have had so many prospective families and other community members tell me what a great time that had at the fete and what a lovely school that we have.
In addition, the day also aimed to raise money for the school with the target of $50,000 to allow us to resurface our tired and cracked school basketball court.
We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the hard work and dedication of an amazing team of parents, carers and parents, we absolutely smashed this target.
Our final total raised from the event was (drum roll please)...
This means that we can now proceed to engage a contractor to lay a new surface to allow our students to live out their NBA dreams. The additional funds will also allow us to purchase new backboards and further improve our sports facilities at the school.
More details on this exciting project to follow.
Whilst I know that we did it at the time, now that this incredible outcome is confirmed, we need to once again thank our organisers, sponsors and donors who made it possible.

This group of parents worked for almost a year to gather ideas, make plans and pull off the fete. Whilst each member of the team had their own area of responsibility, they pulled together and provided the support to ensure everything went so smoothly. Without them, there would have been no fete.
There were 209 volunteer slots on the day and it is testament to our school community that these were all filled without too much drama. We want to thank everyone who found the time to serve on a stall, cook burgers, paint faces, collect rubbish or in the many other ways required.
The generosity of our fete sponsors allowed us to ensure that the fete makes a substantial financial return for the school. We would like to thank;

Whilst every bit of the fete contributed to its success, from a financial point of view, the amazing online silent auction did a lot of the heavy lifting, raising almost $35,000 alone.
We would like to thank everyone who donated, in particular the below donors whose contributions were each valued at over $200.
I am blown away by the hard work, skill and dedication of the team that made this possible and the generosity of the community and companies that all contributed.
