Film Festival

Kino 5A & John 6B

This term the grade 5/6 students participated in the 2024 Film Festival. We incorporated our learning in Big Question, Reading, Writing and STEAM to make our movies.

In week 4, we explored different case studies that relate to our Big Question. We also practised our text plan and explored the history of film.

In week 5, we learned pattern writing and how it links with a storyboard.

In week 6, we chose a topic and created a storyboard related to the chosen topic and our Big Question, Does where you live make a difference? We were given two sessions, both split in two days.

Then in Week 7, we met our groups and allocated roles between us. Then we started planning and writing our film festival scripts.

In week 8, we filmed our films and even started the editing process. The green screen helped some groups who for example had scenes in an airport. It looks like they are actually filming there, but not in reality.

Zoe in 6A commented that she “loved how everyone was working so well together considering that we were completely mixed up, grades and genders.”

Charlie C in 5A said “I liked pretending to be a different character with different personalities. It was a good experience.”

Olivia in 6B said “it was a great opportunity to showcase our creativity.”

Kino 5A said “the film festival was a good time to learn about the elements of technology.”

Thanks to all the 5/6 teachers for the support and help they provided us.
