Prep M 

In Prep M we have been exploring text to self connections. This is when we relate what we are reading to our own life experiences, feelings and ideas. We need to try and think like the character to find a way to connect to them and the story. 

Our focus text was ‘Giraffe’s can’t dance!’ By Giles Andreae & Guy Parker-Rees. This book is about a giraffe who feels that he is different. Gerald struggles to connect to the other jungle animals. Gerald finds it hard to embrace his individuality. But Gerald soon realises that there is no-one better to be than himself! 

In Prep M we connected to this because we have all had times that we have felt a little different or felt that we might not be exactly like other people. We know that we are all unique and that is what makes us special, just like Gerald. In Prep M it is important that we celebrate our differences and accept ourselves and others.
