What's Been Happening in Year 4
The Year 4 students participated in the Eucharist Retreat Day on Tuesday, May 14th. This important day is a part of the student's education about the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and its significance in continuing Jesus' mission within our faith lives. The day expanded on the teachings in the classroom about encountering the Institution of the Holy Eucharist from a historical perspective. The students have been studying the connection and its beginnings with Jesus as a practising Jewish man and his desire to be in communion with his friends, the twelve disciples.
Our day at Holy Cross Templestowe offered unique learning experiences of prayer, purpose, and creativity, further enriching the students' understanding of the Sacrament of Eucharist. The students were scheduled to participate in three activities throughout the day. First, they learned candle decorating, focusing on interpreting the light of Christ in our world. Next, they participated in outdoor meditation to reflect on the story of Jesus through his life, death, and resurrection. Finally, they worked on church art, designing a display for our Eucharist. Fr. Kevin spoke to the students, encouraged them to take this next step in the Catholic journey, and taught them a song.
