5/6 AG

Goodbye for now

It's time for me to embark on maternity leave to welcome my third baby. Though I'm sad to leave, it's definitely time to prioritize rest.

I want to express my gratitude to all the families for the support you've shown me throughout this year while working with your children.

I look forward to returning to visit soon with my baby to see how your children have continued to grow and shine.

In my leave, our class is very lucky to have Mr Will joining our class Wednesday-Friday and Miss Georgia continuing Monday & Tuesday. Our class will become the new 5/6WG.

If you need to contact Mr Will on his work days, his email address is william.s@sfxfrankston.catholic.edu.au

I wish everyone the best for the remainder of the year :)

-Miss Ash

We welcome Mr Will to our classroom. The students have made him feel extremely welcome and we look forward to getting to know him some more !

Maths

We have continued our Maths focus on 2D shapes and 3D objects. We did some work on predicting and creating nets that connected with 3D objects.

We then moved on to different views. We had a go at drawing a number of 3D objects from their top, front and side views.

District Cross Country

Last week, Seha, Egidio and Alisha represented our class and headed off to District Cross Country. They did such an amazing job and tried their hardest on the long race.

Alisha came 4th, which means she will head to the next stage in a few weeks.

We wish her all the best! Go Alisha!!!

Reece's Trip

Reece shared his recent trip to Beef Week in Queensland with his dad. He went to sell their famous 'Mama Melisse Hot Sauce.'

Reece shared photos of the different stalls which were related to meat and farming. He worked hard with his dad and they managed to sell all the hot sauce that they sent over.

The class really enjoyed listening to how Reece is able to earn money to help his family sell the sauce and all the different steps they need to take to make and sell the sauce.

Here is a picture that was featured in an article in The Guardian about Reece's input with selling the Hot Sauce. Have a read of the article here: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/article/2024/may/17/beef-2024-cattle-expo-rockhampton

Writing

This week, we have focused on planning before writing. Students engaged in a task where they created a never-ending list of ideas for a narrative story. They really enjoyed coming up with different characters, problems, and settings. We are continuing this by plotting our story ideas on a narrative story graph. The story graph helps us organise our ideas before writing. Our future learning goal is to use our plan to help us structure our ideas into paragraphs!

We hope you have a great weekend,

Mr Will & Miss Georgia
