Incursion
Last week we welcomed The Puppet Kerfuffle Group and they performed a Puppet show about Resilience. Students learnt that Resilience means to bounce back when things get tough. The performers shared strategies that the students can use to demonstrate resilience when they are in a challenging situation. Lots of fun was had by all!
Education in Faith
This term we are learning what it means to be ‘A Steward of Creation.’ To introduce the topic we read two books, ‘Uno’s Garden’ and ‘In The Beginning’ (a story of creation). We had delightful weather so we read one of the books outside, which helped to remind of us of our environment and how and why we should look after it. At the end of the session we had a surprise visit from Father Chinua, who helped to explain that we are all ‘Stewards’ and we all need to work together to protect God’s creation.
Present, Centred, Grounded and Ready to Learn
This term we are focusing on Re-Setting and getting Ready to Learn. Every morning and after recess and lunch, we spend a few minutes participating in a mindful activity to reset and to get ourselves ready to engage in our learning. These activities can involve meditation, movement, drawing, colouring and more. Here are some photos of a ‘melting’ reset where students imagined they are a block of ice by tensing different parts of their bodies, then slowly melting and dropping to the ground. Even Miss. Kim walked past and wanted to join us in our reset.
Assembly Presentation
Last week we presented at assembly. The students read and presented beautifully and also shared the chant they learnt from their excursion to CERES.
