2024 SSV Eastern Primary BOYS Netball

Netball is a fantastic game to play, its fast, physical with a high skill and strategic base which can appeal to all.

The launch of the SSV 12yr Under Boys Netball team in 2023 has again highlighted the importance of removing negative stereotypes around sport...….sport is for everyone not what history has dictated.

The 2024 SSV Eastern Metro (primary) Boy’s Netball competition involved a whooping 72 schools, 12 pools of schools’ competitions.

Details of the event:

Thursday 7th November 2024- Knox Regional Netball Centre, Ferntree Gully

Time: 9:30am-2:30pm (First game at 9.40)

Format: Straight 14 min game or mini games 2 x 7min halves at this stage.

12 pools of netball, a whooping 72 schools from

Team size:  11 boys from MPS, all from Grade 3 or 4 as 5/ 6 boys were on camp. As we only had one team entered, we automatically went into the A division Pool, despite being asked if we could be in division B or C. The boys did us proud, playing 7 games. They listened to our instructions and by the end of the day they were playing as a team and were competitive. When we scored two goals in a game, we were ecstatic. The boys all showed great resilience and sportsmanship for being defeated every game. I was so proud of them all. Each boy were valuable contributors to the games.

The day was so successful because of the strong support from Beck Trevilian, who volunteered and travelled with the team on the bus for the day. Gloria Bourke, Jia Cuthbertson, Simone Brooks and her parents, Julie and Gary. The boys nick named them Nana Julie and Pop Gary. Simone and Beck coaching from the side lines and as Beck said by the 6th game, they boys got it. After the games Jai bought the whole team Zooper Doopers a fitting reward for their brilliant performances.  The boys are only in grade 3 and 4, this netball day will be an annual event. I can’t wait to see how competitive we will be in the following years. Here are some fantastic photos of the day.
