Students from F-6 completed the STOMP dance last week. Together with St Josephs, the F-2 and 3-6 practiced 2 dance routines and a dance as a group. Students performed this in front of a large crowd filled with friends, family and peers. It an incredible effort by all students and the hard work during the week and practices at home really showed. On Tuesday the 9th of October Year 5/6 students took part in a Book Tasting. Students entered a restaurant-like setting (including vases of flowers, tablecloths and place mats on the tables). Students took a seat and “sampled” a book from the stack. After checking out the front and back covers, students spent a few minutes browsing through the book to develop their first impressions. They then wrote down their observations. The process was repeated until the students had tasted five books and they then ranked the books in order of their favourites. The students’ favourite books will now be used for their Literature Circle groups.

Tom J recommended the book Wings of Fire, Darkness of Dragons by Tui. T Sutherland. The fantasy and adventure graphic novel is set in Pynkia with main characters Qui Li, Moon, Kinkajow, Winter, Darkstalker, Turtle and Anemone. After watching his friends leave Jade Mountain, Qui Li decides he needs to pitch in and help save Pynkia. He knows exactly how to help except he doesn't have the powers his friends have. He would recommend the book to anyone who has read the previous W.O.F books and rates it 8/5 stars.
Isabella recommended the book Ella at Edan by Laura Sieveking. It is a mystery book set at Eden College. The main characters are Ella, Zoe, Grace and Vilot who all meet a new girl called Airel. Isabella recommends the book to year 3 and up and rates it 5/5 stars.
