News from

our Acting Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the new school term!

We are excited to embark on another term of authentic learning, student growth and achievement. Engaging teaching and learning programs and many school events have been planned to ensure a positive and enriching experience for all students during Term Four.

We welcomed Bishop Umbers to our school community today. He was very impressed with our school Liturgy and the respectful and talented students here at Our Lady of Fatima.

This week we celebrated World Teachers Day, a time to acknowledge our teachers and thank them for all the work they do to educate, inspire and empower our students as learners. A special thank you to Mrs Belinda Smith and her team who provided our staff with a beautiful surprise morning tea. It was very much appreciated by our staff.

Congratulations to Chonteau Poot and Gabrielle Devine who received the Highly Accomplished Teaching Award today at Parliament House. This achievement is a testament to their dedication and commitment to excellence in education.

Congratulations to the following students, Olivia.F, Anna.S, Luka.F, Jasmine.B, Chloe.G and Mila.S who participated in the Sutherland Shire Inter School Public Speaking competition on Wednesday 16th October. Their preparation, confidence, and presentation was outstanding. Anna.S received 2nd place, Olivia 3rd place and Luka fourth place in their divisions. All students were acknowledged for their public speaking skills receiving a special medal. The school is very proud of their achievements.

Sydney Catholic Schools has appointed a new Executive Director, Ms Danielle Cronin who will be overseeing the network of 147 Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney. Ms Cronin currently serves on the NSW Non-Government Schools Advisory Council, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Policy Advisory and Curriculum Reform Steering Groups as well as the Registration and Accreditation Committee. Ms Cronin is also the first female Executive Director of schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney. Our school looks forward to working with Ms Cronin to support teachers, students and their families.

I would like to formally thank Mr Peter Buxton for leading your school during Mrs Sue Clay’s absence. During Mr Buxton’s time at our school over the last 7 weeks he has  listened to our teachers and students ideas, answered our questions, and made time to visit classrooms to get to know the students and observe their engagement in learning. I’m sure he has learnt a lot about the day to day events at a primary school level and the many  curious and creative learners at Our Lady of Fatima!
