Leadership Assembly
On Wednesday last week, we held our Secondary Leadership Assembly, where we introduced the 2025 School Leadership Team to the school community. We wish our new leaders well in their final year of studies, and in leading our school in their respective roles. Congratulations!
Year 11/12 Visual Arts Workshop: Building a Body of Work
Last Monday, the 2025 Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts students participated in a full day workshop, ‘Building a Body of Work’, led by Sydney-based artist, Timm O'Regan. This workshop was designed to deepen their understanding of the NSW Visual Arts syllabus, focusing specifically on developing their practical Body of Work (BoW) for the HSC.
The morning sessions guided students in exploring themes and concepts that align with syllabus objectives, examining past Band 6 HSC Body of Work examples to better understand effective artistic communication. By experimenting with a range of artmaking techniques and materials, students gained confidence in expressing their ideas and experimenting with new approaches. They learned valuable techniques, such as image transfer and assembling clay slabs into mechanical-inspired structures, giving their work a distinctive three-dimensional quality.
The afternoon offered a hands-on clay sculpting session, where students applied these skills to create unique clay artworks that embodied the day’s discussions. This practical experience brought their ideas to life and reinforced critical syllabus concepts around creativity, expression and technical skill. Year 11 student, Cara Haley reflected, "today was fantastic because we gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to excel in the HSC Visual Arts course".
This workshop has provided students with invaluable insights and practical skills that will support them as they develop cohesive and impactful Bodies of Work for their senior Visual Arts studies.
Year 9 Commerce
On Thursday, our Year 9 Commerce students hosted a lunchtime market day for the Primary School students as part of their current studies. The Year 9s ran a variety of fun stalls, offering the Primary students the chance to participate and win plenty of exciting prizes! Well done to our Year 9 students and thank you to Mr Gilbert for organising this fantastic event.
