Year Two - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
We have had a big focus on LISTENING this week. We have undertaken various tasks that require us to use those skills in order to complete them. Some of these have been listening to spelling words, listening to a story to answer questions and listening to instructions in order to complete a craft. Listening is an important skill required when interacting with others.
Next week we are learning...
Religious Education: We are continuing our work on Mission Month and looking at the Socktober Fundraiser. Students will be participating in a Socktober event on Thursday 31st October where they will be invited to wear crazy socks for a gold coin donation. We will create a soccer ball using old plastic bags and socks and play a tournament with the Year 2 classes.
Mathematics: We are learning about data. Students will using different skills to count, sort, and interpret different sets of data.
English: We will be looking at using the subordinated conjunctions 'since' and 'although' in our reading and writing. Our spelling focus is the /ti/ and /ci/ suffixes. The suffix ion makes words into nouns (things). The suffix an means a person. The suffix ous means full of.

Auslan: This week we are completing our mid-cycle assessment for Unit 7.

Reminders
Just a reminder that St Thomas is a Sun Smart school and during Term 4 students are required to wear hats. Please ensure students have their name on their hat and remind them of how to take responsibility for their personal belongings. Any student without a hat will be required to sit in the shade during play time and miss out on play.
We're participating in Socktober for Mission Month to make a difference for children in need in Mongolia.
