School Philosophy
Orchard Grove Primary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that engages curiosity, promotes learning, personal growth, and well-being for all students. We strive to develop adaptability and resilience so students can become valued members of the local and global communities and be prepared for future life experiences.
From the Principal
Hi!
Firstly - how good was our Rock Bottom production?! We had two wonderful nights, where our students shone on the stage, helped and supported by our wonderful teachers and community. The aim was to allow students to shine, have new experiences and build connections across the school - all of which was achieved. Thank you once again to Miss J, Mrs L and the production team of teachers who worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome.
As mentioned last week - many projects are happening around the school at the moment - and I am pleased to say they are well and truly underway. I anticipate that there will be slightly less activity next week due to the public holiday before it picks back up again.
Our 2025 student leader process has begun with year 3, 4 and 5 students listening to speeches last week before voting for School, House and JSC captains. We are so very lucky to have the majority of our students wanting to lead our school - so I would like to acknowledge the time and effort those students put into their applications and speeches. It can be difficult to put yourself out there without the certainty of success so I would like to congratulate all candidates on stepping forward and trying their best. We will reveal all student leadership positions for 2025 in the coming weeks.
We have also had students attending to present at the STEM 'It takes a Spark' conference with Mrs Bird and Mr Anthony, as well as students participating in the Eastern Regional Athletics with Mr Liston. Well done to all of these students!
Finally, as mentioned in the newsletter last week, we are beginning to think about 2025 classes. We do accept parent requests - as long as they are on educational grounds. These requests are overseen by the principal team rather than classroom teachers, as this allows us to ensure all requests are received and treated fairly and equitably. Please forward all requests to the principal team - either directly or via the school email on orchard.grove.ps@education.vic.gov.au. Email or written requests are accepted with a cut-off date for requests being the 8th of November 2024.
Just a reminder that this Monday is a Curriculum Day and Tuesday is Melbourne Cup public holiday, so we will see you back at school on Wednesday.
