Principals Report

Ms Stephanie Scott

Welcome to our first newsletter of the term! As you can see it has been an extremely busy start - and we're only in week 3! We've also included some of our news stories from the last week of Term 3 - with photos of our Formal Assembly and Yr 12's final assembly and fun day.

It was lovely to welcome so many people to our Grandparents Day last Friday! I have never worked at a high school which has so much support for this day, and more broadly, has so much support and involvement from the community overall. The support for our Pop-Up Gallery, showcasing the wonderful creative and practical works of our students, is another example of this. As always, these community activities would not be possible without the hard work and commitment of our staff - thank you!

This sense of community and the idea of giving back, can be seen all the time at THS. The SRC's crazy sock day last week, raised funds and awareness for the essential role the Westpac Helicopter plays in our community. We also have a number of students involved in the weekly RFS cadet program and the weekly visits to aged care residents; and today a number of our Year 9 and 10 PASS students are volunteering at the Tenterfield Pony Club Horse Sports event.

It has also been a busy time for sport. The above Horse Sports event has nearly 70 competitors, we look forward to publishing photos and updates soon! Congratulations to Brooke Everett who represented THS at the Boccia Tournament in Sydney - we're looking forward to our school boccia competition starting next week. Well done to our Open Girls Cricket team, although they narrowly lost against Armidale Secondary College, it was a great effort!

Finally, our Yr 12 students have almost finished their HSC exams just as our new Year 12 students are beginning their HSC course. On November 11th, Mr Edmonds and I will be hosting an information session on the HSC for parents and carers to help explain the process, answer any questions and provide some tips on how to support your child. Details are in this edition and will be posted on Facebook.
