PAT Testing

During Term 4, we will be collecting data on our students' progress in reading, literacy, and numeracy skills. These foundational skills are essential for success in senior school and for fostering a productive, hope-filled future. For the first time this year, we will also gather data on students' Science skills. Our staff will analyse this data to inform and shape our students' learning experiences for the upcoming year. This year, Year 8 students have already completed these assessments, and in the coming weeks, students from Years 7, 9, and 10 will participate as well. We look forward to sharing the progress of all our students and discussing the next steps in their learning journey.

Stage 6 News

The final 2024 HSC exams were conducted this week. Mrs Carol Wheaton, on behalf of the exam invigilators, commended the group, noting their cooperation and preparedness. We look forward to celebrating with Yr 12 students and their families at the Graduation on Thursday 14th  November. HSC results will be released on Wednesday 18 December. Many Year 12 teachers have been engaged by NESA to mark written exams across a broad range of subjects.

End of Year 11 reports were released to students and parents via COMPASS on Wednesday 23rd October with advice about making the transition to Year 12  and outlining next steps in improving learning for the HSC. Please contact staff via Compass if you have any concerns. Students were reminded of NESA expectations, rules and procedures in relation to satisfactory completion of courses, including applying themselves with diligence and sustained effort to all set tasks and learning experiences. These are outlined in the following NESA link and all students should familiarise themselves with them Rules and Procedures Guide 2025 | NSW Government.

Year 10 Exams

This term, Year 10 students participated in their Yearly Examinations as part of their preparation for senior study. These exams provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop important study skills and examination techniques.  We are proud of the mature and thoughtful way our students approached this experience, and they have been reflecting on what they have learned throughout the process. We look forward to continuing to support their growth in skills and strategies as they progress through their senior schooling.

Empowering active learning through peer and self-assessment

In our classrooms, we continue to emphasise the importance of peer and self-assessment as essential tools for fostering active learning. By engaging in these practices, students become more aware of their own strengths and areas for improvement, empowering them to take charge of their educational journey. Through collaborative feedback and reflective self-evaluation, learners can identify what they know, set goals for growth, and strategise their next steps. This ongoing focus not only enhances their understanding of what they are learning but also cultivates critical thinking and self-regulation skills, ultimately driving deeper engagement and ownership of their learning process.
