2024 Year 12 Award Ceremony

On Friday 18 October, we will come together as a school to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 12 students, and to recognise the individual excellence and collective effort that makes this day so special.

At Good News Lutheran College, we believe in the importance of both individual success and the power of teamwork. As we celebrate this day, I am reminded of the words of Michael Jordan, who said, "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." This quote captures the balance between individual effort and the strength of working together. While we commend each student for their personal achievements, it is essential to remember that greatness is often the result of the support and encouragement of others—your classmates, teachers, and families. Together, we achieve more.

Our achievements, both academic and personal, are not isolated from the community we belong to. Just as no one reaches greatness alone, we are reminded of the words in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour:  If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." This verse emphasises the importance of community, teamwork, and mutual support—values that we cherish here at GNLC.

Whether Year 12 students receive an award or not at the ceremony, please remember that greatness is not just measured by academic results. It is found in your kindness, in the way you lift up those around you, and in the courage you show when faced with challenges. As you continue your journey, may you strive not just for personal success, but for the collective good of those around you.

As we move forward together, let us embrace both the power of individual excellence and the strength of teamwork. By combining these, there is no limit to what we can achieve, both within our school and beyond.

May the Class of 2024 go forward with confidence, knowing that you are supported by a community that believes in your greatness.
