VISUAL ART NEWS
In Visual Arts students learn about visual arts practices, including the fields of art and craft. They experience and explore visual artworks created by artists and build an understanding of the significance and impact of visual arts.
FOUNDATION
Students in foundation have been learning about the colour spectrum. They are exploring the work of American artist Alma Thomas by creating a mosaic rainbow to build upon their fine motor skills.
Foundation students have also completed artworks emphasising the elements of line and colour. They have been practising how to draw a variety of line styles and identifying the lines artists use in their work. You can see a display of some of their colourful artwork in our school library.
YEAR 1 & 2
Students in years 1 and 2 have just completed their unit on paper sculpture. They have learned a variety of ways to build structures using paper. The students have used their imagination to create a 3D neighbourhood. We hope to create a display of their amazing work in the coming weeks.
YEAR 3 & 4
Students in year 3/4 and students in 4/5 are learning about the element of Form. They have been busy learning new skills and techniques using modelling clay to create the facial features for their sculptures. They have also used a variety of construction materials such as craft sticks, wire, masking tape, aluminium foil and plaster bandage when building and creating. We are really looking forward to seeing how they develop in the coming weeks.
YEAR 5 & 6
Students in year 5 and 6 have been focusing on soft sculpture. They have been learning the skills of sewing and have created some amazing imaginative artworks. They have explored the work of UK artist Lucy Sparrow and American artist Jennifer Strunge as sources of inspiration.
