With a career spanning across Italy, Switzerland, and Australia, Iacopo has played for renowned clubs such as FC Treviso, Sassari Torres, AC Bellinzona, and Western Sydney Wanderers, to name just a few. His experience is vast, having made over 250 appearances in top-tier leagues, including the UEFA Cup and AFC Champions League, and earning accolades like the Joe Marston Medal for his standout performance in the 2014 A-League Grand Final.
After retiring from playing, Iacopo seamlessly transitioned into coaching. He has worked with Melbourne City FC, taking on roles ranging from Academy Head Coach to U23s Senior Coach, where he played a pivotal role in the development of young talent. His coaching credentials are backed by UEFA A and B licenses, which further reflect his deep understanding of the game.
Recently, Iacopo joined us at Ivanhoe Edge, where he led our soccer clinics, sharing his wealth of knowledge and passion for the game with the next generation of athletes. He truly enjoyed the experience of mentoring these young players, witnessing their growth and development. Iacopo has been impressed with the progress students have made in their technical skills during Ivanhoe Edge sessions, noting significant improvements in their abilities and dedication. Iacopo’s journey—from playing in top leagues to now shaping the future of football through coaching—makes him an invaluable asset to our community. His ability to connect with players, provide expert guidance, and inspire the next generation is something we’re incredibly fortunate to have at Ivanhoe Edge.
