Friday 13 February marks the Anniversary of the National Apology, a significant moment in Australia’s history. This day marks the formal apology delivered in Federal Parliament by Prime Minister, and Marist College Ashgrove Old Boy Kevin Rudd in 2008, recognising the profound harm caused by past government policies that forcibly removed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families - now known as the Stolen Generations.
The Anniversary of the National Apology invites all Australians, including our young people, to reflect on the impact of these policies, the enduring strength of First Nations communities, and the ongoing journey towards healing and reconciliation.
As a Marist community, we use this day to deepen our understanding of our shared history, show respect for First Nations peoples, and commit ourselves to fostering a more just and compassionate future. Families are encouraged to use this opportunity to discuss this occasion with their son's.
We wish to advise families that there will be a slight increase in prices at the College Uniform Shop, effective from Sunday 1 March. This increase applies to a limited number of items only, with a 10% increase on a small selection of products. This adjustment reflects rising supplier and production costs and helps ensure we can continue to provide quality uniforms for our students.
We appreciate that any price increase can impact families, and we have worked to keep changes to a minimum wherever possible. Current prices will remain in place until Thursday 28 February.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Uniform Shop for further information.
To help maintain a safe and orderly environment for everyone in our community, we ask all families to be mindful and considerate when parking on and around College grounds. In particular, extra care is required in the pool car park where there are minimal line markings. Please ensure adequate space is left between vehicles so drivers and passengers can safely enter and exit their cars.
We would also like to remind families of the designated parking arrangements in this area. Access across the Glenlyon Bridge is strictly limited to staff and patrons of the College swimming club. Likewise, the nearby drop-off bay is reserved exclusively for swimming club use. Parking within the swimming pool car park (from the eastern end of the pool to the bridge) is available to staff and swimming pool patrons only, while parking alongside and behind the pool is designated for staff use.
These measures are in place to reduce on-site traffic congestion and, most importantly, to support the safety of our students, staff and wider community. We thank you for your understanding, cooperation and ongoing support in following these parking arrangements.
