Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Lenten season that lasts for six weeks. We call it Ash Wednesday because many, many Christians around the world receive a cross of ashes on their foreheads on this day. God’s people have used this sign for hundreds of years. This cross of ashes tells friends and neighbours that we are not perfect, and that we know we are not perfect. It also reminds us that we are followers of Jesus and our main role is to serve others just as he did. With God’s help we can try to reach out to others with more love and kindness especially in our own families, our school and in our world and think about how we can be servants to God’s people.

Loving God,

Be with us in a special way during this time of Lent, so that we can become people of love and service. Help us to think about how we treat others, the way we act, the way we live our lives, and how we can look to the needs of others rather than our own needs. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ, Our Lord,

Amen.

Next Wednesday, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will attend Mass at 9:00am in the Church. All KInder to Year 6 parents are most welcome to join us.

Kindergarten to Year 2 will remain in their classrooms and participate in a small, age-appropriate prayer service during the day to reflect on the meaning of Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season.

Please note the flyer to the left has been updated since last week due to some parental "advice" that I truly appreciate!
