Sun Printing

Some of the year 3 students were captured (enjoy the pun!) this week mixing Art and Science in the front garden. They might not have known it but they were re-enacting one the earliest forms of photography.  Using cyanotype paper (sun sensitive), they arranged leaves and shells  and exposed their designs to the sun.  The technique was invented in the 1840s and is considered one of the earliest forms of photography. It is a camera-less photographic technique where objects are placed on light-sensitive paper and exposed to sunlight, creating a white silhouette on a deep blue background.

Here's a preview of their experiments! I wonder how they'll turn out?

Potato Olympics

This week the year 1 students held the closing ceremony of their Potato Olympics.

Watch the video to see what amazing athletes they created. It's such a shame they will have short-lived careers ;)
