In HASS, we have been learning about democratic decision-making and what it means to have a voice. To apply our understanding, we created our own class rules through a fair and respectful voting process. Every student had the opportunity to share ideas, listen to others and vote on the rules we believed were most important. This hands-on experience helped us see how democracy works in real life and why fairness, responsibility and respect are vital in a community.

In Maths, we have been exploring five-digit numbers. Students are learning to read, write and represent these numbers in a variety of ways. Using place value charts, expanded form and number lines has strengthened our understanding, and we are becoming increasingly confident when working with larger numbers.

Reading and writing have also been a strong focus. We have been exploring a wide range of texts, sharing our opinions and making thoughtful recommendations supported by evidence. Students are developing their creativity by learning how to “hook” their audience, write concise summaries without giving away key moments, and generate excitement about the books they love.

Alongside our academic learning, we have continued to build our social skills. Through group tasks and class discussions, students are developing teamwork, listening respectfully to different viewpoints and supporting one another through challenges. We are practising kindness, patience and empathy, and learning to resolve minor conflicts independently. These skills are helping us grow not only as learners, but as a supportive and connected classroom community.

We are proud of all we have achieved and look forward to continuing our learning journey together.
