2CD friendship issues in the yard:

Gallery Image

We have had quite a few conversations with some of the 2CD students (above) around friendship issues in the yard relating to being unkind, exclusive and controlling. All three families have been in touch with Jasmine & Hannah to ask staff in the yard to closely monitor the situation as it is impacting the students' feelings about coming to school. It is still unclear for us who is instigating these problems.

Our agreement for play times are as follows:

  • You are the boss of you (including who you can play with, no one else decides this).
  • We try to include everyone.
  • We speak up if someone is being unkind towards us.
  • We don’t always have to play with the same people (even if they’re our friends).
  • When people are being unkind and not stopping we need to get the help of the yard duty teachers to support us.

If have any issues with the students above in the yard please try mirror the above language and chronicle on Compass (notifying Jasmine & Hannah) so we are aware and can be responsive.

Thank you! HS & JS

Playground Incident

There was an incident in the playground after school on Monday, February 23rd around 4:00 p.m.

Benedict and Hugo were physical towards Zara.

Could you please keep an eye on Zara, Benedict, and Hugo when you are on duty and check that Zara is okay. Zara is anxious and has selective mutism, so she may have difficulty communicating her needs and emotions. Please write a chronicle if there were to be any further incident, so that Stéphanie can communicate with Zara's family. Thank you!

Jesse Jones, 2A

Jesse is having challenges self regulating in the yard, especially during the line up time before teachers arrive.

Jesse is medicated for ADHD and his medication is currently being reviewed to ensure that it lasts throughout the school day. The new prescription should be available in the next few days and will hopefully help Jesse to self regulate.

Please keep an eye on Jesse and support him to engage in positive play. If he is demonstrated heightend behaviours, please keep him with you on yard duty or bring him to the  Library if he needs down time.
