Learning and Teaching

LEARNING SPACE 2 SENIORS
It's been a very busy week in the senior learning spaces this week!
First, we wrapped up our Persuasive Writing unit with some fantastic final pieces, showcasing the students’ growing confidence in forming strong arguments and supporting their opinions with evidence. It was wonderful to see how much progress everyone has made.
On Shrove Tuesday, both senior and junior students celebrated with some delicious pancakes, kindly prepared by our wonderful parent helpers — thank you for giving your time to make the morning so special for the children. As we prepare for Lent, students thoughtfully reflected on how they can live more like Jesus during this season. Each child created “footstep promises,” sharing meaningful commitments to live more like Jesus, demonstrating kindness, compassion and making time to help others.
Here is a photo of our proud LS2 Star Student of the Week award winners from last Friday’s assembly — congratulations! Each child demonstrated excellence in their learning in some way over Week 2.
Our 5/6 students are also having a fantastic time at camp. The weather has been ideal and the children were incredibly blessed by the idyllic forest scenery as we celebrated our Ash Wednesday paraliturgy and have participated in fun Camp activities. We look forward to sharing photos and stories from their adventures at Assembly next week!

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
SENIORS
GRADE 6 BIKE EDUCATION
Next Friday our Grade 6s will begin their 2nd level of Bike Education: Pathways. They will begin on the school grounds recapping the skills learnt last year. For the remainder of the sessions they will be using the skills they have learnt, riding on pathways in the community.
Parents please ensure your child’s bike and helmet is at school next Friday February 27th. If you would like to drop your child’s bike off it can remain in the bike shed for the duration of the program. Students who do not have bikes and parents indicated this on NForma will be able to use a school bike and helmet but we only have limited amounts of school bikes.
If your child is riding to school a reminder that bike helmets are compulsory and students will need to dismount their bikes on school grounds and walk. Bikes can be placed in front of their Learning Space. Like always if raining heavily in the morning we ask that bikes be left at home.
URGENT - VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED
We are still looking for parent helpers to assist with the pathways program. To assist you must have a current Working with Children Check registered with the school office.
If you are able to ride a bike and assist between 11.35-1.30 on the following days:

Even if you can only assist with one session please contact me at gfaiola@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au
We have bicycles available for your use. Without assistance, the program will be difficult to run.

In order to assist you will need to have a current Working with Children Check, which is registered with the school.
If you are able to assist and run some sporting clinics on one of the following days from 11.40-3.10 please email me at gfaiola@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au
