Dear Families,

Wednesday this week marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. Lent is a special time in the Church calendar, inviting us to reflect on how much the Gospel means to us and how well we are living out God’s law of love in our daily lives. Lent has many traditions, we notice the purple colour in our churches and often hear the call to pray, to fast, and to give alms. “Alms” means compassion: giving of ourselves to others.

Many people choose to ‘give up’ something during Lent: lollies, chocolate, coffee, sugar… even complaining; but it can also be a time to give more of ourselves. We might commit to doing more good, such as visiting someone who is unwell, sharing meals together without devices, or helping out at home with a positive attitude.

A simple message we can carry with us throughout Lent, and beyond, is to be kind. Our school theme this year is Make a Difference. How will you make a difference and show kindness this Lent?

School Lunches

Did you know children consume around a THIRD of their daily food intake at school? Lunchbox food plays a crucial role towards children's ability to concentrate, learn and play. When children eat well they behave better, are able to listen well and concentrate for longer.  Packing a healthy school lunchbox will help children to learn and play well and be happy at school. Please check out the following resources to help with packing healthier lunch options for your child at school.

Please remember, that due to a number of anaphylactic children, there are to be no nuts or nut products brought to school.

Swimming Program - Prep to Year 4

Our annual swimming program for students in Years Prep-4  continues this week.  The program runs  on Fridays for 6 weeks, concluding on 27th March.

beginning of September until the end of April. Parents are required to supply sunscreen for their child (roll on sunscreen recommended). Staff will not apply sunscreen but will provide regular reminders for students to apply or re-apply sunscreen. When the weather exceeds 35 degrees or the UV rating is extreme, children will remain indoors.

Joke of the Week

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: 'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples'.

Final Thoughts ~ Progress, Not Perfection

We live in a world that often celebrates perfection, but real growth is usually far messier than that. Learning, for children and adults alike, is rarely a straight line. It involves mistakes, setbacks, retries, and moments of doubt.

What matters most is progress. Showing up, trying again, asking for help, and being willing to learn from experience. When children see that it’s okay not to get everything right the first time, they develop resilience, confidence and a healthy attitude to challenges.

Perfection isn’t the goal. Progress is.
