Geelong Indy Enrolments Guide

In 2026 many parents will still need to make decisions regarding their child's education for 2027 and beyond.

Information for Students Using Public Transport

From 1 January 2026, public transport is now free for children aged between 5 and 17 years. To access free travel, all young people need to carry a Youth myki card and tap on and off each time they travel.

Youth myki can be purchased for $5 online via the Transport Victoria website or from a staffed station or from the PTV hub.

• Youth myki cards purchased online will be registered to the customer and will expire when they turn 18
• Youth myki cards purchased in person from a staffed station or the PTV hub aren't registered and will expire in 4 years. For a list of staffed stations and their operating hours, visit the Transport Victoria website.

Children under 18 travelling on ticketed V/Line services require a paper ticket or e-ticket and must present their Youth myki to obtain a $0 ticket. On booked V/Line services, the Youth myki card number can be used to access free travel.

Western Heights College Sports Clinics

Do you love AFL, Netball, Soccer or Basketball? Then come along to our Sports Clinics for 10-12 year old’s – all students are welcome. 

These clinics will be facilitated by our world class coaches.

AFL: Monday March 23rd, 3.30pm-4.30pm (19 Quamby Avenue, Hamlyn Heights)

Basketball: Thursday March 26th, 3.30pm-4.30pm (Leisuretime Sports Precinct)

Netball:  Tuesday March 31st, 3.30pm-4.30pm (Leisuretime Sports Precinct)

Soccer: Wednesday March 25th, 3.30pm-4.30pm (Leisuretime Sports Precinct)

We are delighted to extend an invitation to the families of your Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students to attend our upcoming Open Night and Day at Geelong Lutheran College. It may seem early to start thinking about Year 7 in 2028 or beyond, however due to strong enrolment growth at our Armstrong Creek campus, we encourage families to consider visiting us early to ensure they have all their options covered for the continuation of their child’s education journey.Our Open Night and Day offer a wonderful opportunity for families to explore our campuses, meet our dedicated staff, chat with our students, and gain valuable insight into what is The GLC Difference.

Applications for Year 7 in 2027 are now open and close on Friday 8 May 2026. 

Positions at GLC are limited, and in line with our enrolment policy, the date of application is taken into consideration when enrolment interest is high. Based on current demand we anticipate that we will have more applications than positions available for Year 7 in 2027. 

The Geelong Youth Choir are hoping to attract new singers to their choirs in 2026, with choirs suitable for children from to 8-18 years.

Joining the Geelong Youth Choir offers students a wide range of benefits, including:

• Extension opportunities for students who love to sing
• The chance to learn to read music and develop strong vocal technique
• Regular performance opportunities within the community
• Special collaborations including with Opera Australia and ANCA Choral Fest
• Musicianship training based on the renowned Kodály method
• A confidence-building, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
• Choirs available for both primary and secondary students
• Open to young people aged 8–18

We have had a really successful year in 2025, with highlights including

• Performing with Opera Australia in their touring production of La Boheme
• Collaborations with Orchestra Geelong and Geelong Youth Orchestra
• Singing at the Highton Christmas Carols
• Performing for family, friends and the community in our own choir showcase concert.

With school returning, Cricket Victoria have Pop Up Cricket Blast programs starting across Geelong over coming weeks!

Pop Up Blast programs are 3-5 weeks in length, and provide a perfect opportunity for participants aged 5-10 to join in the fun following an action packed Ashes and Big Bash summer on TV! Sessions are 45-60 minutes long, and include active games, fundamental skill development and lots of fun.

Programs are at a discounted rate compared to traditional Cricket Blast program, and includes a participant pack.
