Foundation

Let’s celebrate week 5 of Foundation

Maths

We have now completed 17 days of Foundation, and it has been wonderful to see the children settling in so well. This week, we are excited to begin our very first Mathematics unit! The children have been exploring numbers by counting and comparing different collections. They have been practising counting forwards and backwards from 0 to 10 and making thoughtful guesses about how many items are in a group. We will be looking at strategies to help them count carefully and accurately, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they develop these skills.

How to support your child at home?

You can support your child at home by encouraging them to count objects around the house, play simple number games, or ask questions like “Which group has more?” or “How many can you see?” to help them practise these skills in everyday situations.

Buddie reading

Also in Foundation, last Friday we had our first meet and greet with our Year 5/6 buddies. The children really enjoyed meeting their older buddies, and we look forward to reading together, sharing stories, and building both their reading skills and confidence in the coming weeks.
