Soirée

The music department held their term 1 music soiree in the library and it was so wonderful to see all the year new 7’s beginning their journey Dromana College. The concert featured performances from all of our ensembles including but not limited to the Senior and Junior Vocal Ensemble, Combined Percussion Ensemble, Stage Band, Jazz Rock band, a range of contemporary combos and VCE classroom ensembles.  The Soirée is also a great opportunity for students to observe their peers and their approach to performance and hopefully feel inspired about what’s ahead for them.  The students at Dromana continue to push the standard and surprise us with their dedication to their craft, professionalism and hard work.  Well done to all that were involved and a huge thanks to our 2025 music captains Taylor Roberts and Finn Collins for comparing

the night.

Year 7 and 12 lunchtime Concert

The Dromana College Music Department along with the help of our wonderful 2025 music captains, once again held a lunchtime music concert that aimed at including a handful of talented year 7’s into our performance program.  There was a range of talents on display during our lunchtime performance including drums, keyboards and plenty of vocalists and it was also well attended by student onlookers who were suitably impressed. Great work to all the year 7’s that stepped up and performed and the VCE music students who helped support them through rehearsals and their performance.

Top Class Excursion

This year, we once again took our VCE music students on a day excursion to the Melbourne Recital Centre to witness the 2025 top class performance.  Students were able to observe performances from the top-achieving students in the state from 2024 across a diverse range of instruments and ensembles, as well as a variety of instruments.  The performances demonstrated high aptitude from a range of assessed criteria, including reimagining an existing song, composition and performance techniques, which provided our current students with some inspiration for their own performance program as well as a clear understanding of the standard of excellence across the state.
