Art Community Project

The Hope Window – A Celebration of Creativity and Community
Plenty River College students have once again demonstrated their incredible artistic talents through an inspiring collaboration with local artist. As part of the City of Whittlesea’s 2025 Community Festival project, students worked alongside Gay to create a series of stunning nature-inspired artworks that will contribute to The Hope Window—a giant, uplifting mosaic to be displayed in the PRACC foyer for thousands to admire.
The theme of Hope was explored through a variety of creative mediums, allowing students to express their unique interpretations of optimism, resilience, and the beauty of nature. The engagement and enthusiasm from our students throughout the project were nothing short of remarkable. It was wonderful to witness them connecting with their creativity, embracing new artistic techniques, and taking pride in their work.
Under Gay’s guidance, students produced an impressive collection of artworks, including intricate gum nut creatures, vibrant butterflies, dragonflies, and bugs, as well as beautifully detailed rock paintings and tree bark artworks. Each piece reflected their individual artistic voices and their shared appreciation for nature’s role in inspiring hope and renewal.
Beyond the incredible artwork, this experience provided students with an opportunity to engage with a professional artist, gain insight into the artistic process, and understand how art can be used to communicate powerful messages to the wider community. The process encouraged self-expression, patience, and collaboration, skills that will serve them well in both their personal and academic journeys.
The excitement surrounding this project grew throughout the session, students-created pieces that became part of The Hope Window—a large-scale art display at Plenty Ranges Art and Convention.
We are so proud of our students here at PRC for their dedication and artistic achievements, and we extend our gratitude to Gay for sharing her expertise and passion with us. This project has truly highlighted the power of art in bringing people together and inspiring a sense of hope for the future. Another fabulous community project that the students and staff have been privileged to be a part of.
