Junior School News

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on and celebrating the wonderful learning of our amazing Year 2 students!

The Year 2 classes have been working hard to uplevel their writing by using editing skills with the assistance of The VCOP Gang for guidance.

  • Vinny Vocabulary reminds us to use interesting and exciting words.
  • Connie Connectives helps us use words that link our ideas together and make our writing flow.
  • Ollie Opener encourages us to start our sentences in different and creative ways to hook our readers.
  • Penny Punctuation helps us remember to use punctuation marks correctly, making our writing clear and easy to read.

We use highlighters to find these in our writing. This helps us to see what we are missing and then we can uplevel our writing.

During Class Sport we have been having fun while developing our ball skills. We’ve been practicing throwing and pushing balls from different positions, helping us improve our coordination. We’ve also enjoyed relay races, working on teamwork and speed. We’ve been focusing the space around us, helping us to be aware of our surroundings and how to move safely during games.

Each morning, we begin our school day with Prayer. This is where we take time, as a class, to say our class prayer together and share any special intentions that we have. Here are some special prayers from our Year 2 students:

  • I pray my mum and dad have a good day today - Mollie White
  • I pray for my great grandma to live a long life - Mia Williams
  • I pray for people who don’t have water or food, that they find some - Lucas Goodyear
  • I pray for my mum because she is feeling sick today - Honor Slade
  • I pray that Lila has a great birthday - Harriet Kroussoratis
  • I pray for those who do not have money, food or shelter - Lila Callery
