Meet Our Staff

                                      Edward Simpson

Role at St Mary’s?

I am a Year Four teacher and the Senior Coordinator. I love supporting both students and staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

How many years have you been in education?

This is my fifth year teaching in a Primary school, and before joining St Mary’s, I worked in Early Learning and hospitality.

What’s your favourite thing about St Mary’s?

The sense of community amongst staff and students is what makes St Mary’s such a special place. There’s a real feeling of belonging, and everyone supports one another. Whether it’s the students cheering each other on, the staff working together, or the families who are so involved, it truly feels like one big family.

What’s your favourite food?

Tacos—hands down! They’re the perfect combination of flavour, texture, and fun. Whether it’s classic beef tacos, Nachos, or something more adventurous, I could eat them every day and never get bored!

What’s your favourite book?

It’s hard to pick just one, but I really enjoy books that are thought-provoking and immersive. Whether it’s a gripping mystery, historical fiction, or an inspiring biography, I love a book that stays with me long after I’ve finished reading it.

What’s your favourite movie?

I don’t have one absolute favourite, but I really enjoy action movies! There’s nothing better than a fast-paced film with great stunts, suspense, and a bit of humour thrown in.

Who’s your favourite band/singer?

I’m a big fan of 90s and early 2000s rock! Bands like Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Blink-182 and am even a secret Tay Tay fan!

Do you support a sports team?

I follow the Western Bulldogs in the AFL and am also a big fan of cricket.

What do you enjoy doing outside of school?

Outside of school, I love catching up with friends, taking day trips with my partner and our dog, and playing golf. Golf is a great way to unwind (when I’m not stuck in a bunker, that is!).

If you could go anywhere in the world on holiday, where would it be?

If I could go anywhere, I would travel around Germany. I speak German and lived there in my early 20’s. The history, culture, and food all fascinate me. I’d love to explore further and visit Oktoberfest!

Why did the skittle go to school?

Because he wanted to be a SMARTIE!
