Principals Message

End of Term Message

As we wrap up Term 1, we want to thank all of our students, families, and staff for a great start to the year at Trafalgar Primary School.

It’s been a busy and exciting term! Students have settled into their new classes and routines, and there’s been a strong focus on learning, kindness, and working together. Nearly half of our students received GPA All-Star awards, showing great effort in following our school values – Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner.

We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a great Term 2.

Staffing Updates

Congratulations, Mrs Naomi Landmeter.

As shared with our school community last week, we are incredibly proud to announce that Naomi Landmeter has been appointed as Acting Principal at Albert Street Primary School for the majority of Term 2.

Naomi will commence in the role on Wednesday 8th May, supporting the Albert Street PS community while their substantive Principal, Monique Osborn, takes long service leave. Her appointment is testament to the high regard in which she is held across the system and reflects her strong leadership, deep understanding of teaching and learning, and her steady focus on student wellbeing and school culture.

Over the coming weeks, Naomi will begin the handover process with Monique and SEIL Brad Hutchinson, ensuring a smooth transition. While we will certainly miss Naomi during her time away from Trafalgar PS, we know she will make a meaningful impact in her Acting Principal role—just as she has here.

We look forward to welcoming Naomi back at the start of Term 3 and hearing about the valuable experiences she gains in this next chapter of her leadership journey.

Please join us in once again congratulating Naomi on this exciting opportunity!

Farewell and Best Wishes – Mrs Emily Hardy

We extend our warmest wishes to Mrs Hardy, who has commenced family leave. in preparation for the arrival of her first child.  Mrs Hardy has been a valued member of the Trafalgar Primary School staff, known for her calm and caring approach, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to student wellbeing and learning. Her contribution to our school has been deeply appreciated by students, families, and colleagues alike.

On behalf of the entire school community, we thank Emily for her service to Trafalgar Primary School and wish her and her family all the very best for this exciting new chapter.

Congratulations, Mrs Melissa Marslen.

We are delighted to share that Melissa Marslen has been appointed as Community Liaison at Trafalgar Primary School.

Melissa has been a driving force behind the development of our Breakfast Club program, working closely with FoodBank Victoria to ensure that every student starts the day with a nutritious meal in a warm, welcoming environment. Her passion for student wellbeing, inclusion, and community connection has been clear to all who have worked with her.

In her new role, Melissa will lead the coordination of several key initiatives, including Breakfast Club, Cooking Clubs, Bus Duty, Lunch Orders and the student-led Breakfast Club Café. These programs provide essential support to students who may need a little extra structure and connection to feel ready for learning each day.

We are thrilled that Melissa will continue to lead this important work, helping to bridge the gap between home and the classroom and ensuring all students feel safe, supported, and valued.  Please join us in congratulating Melissa on her appointment!

As we congratulate Melissa, it is timely to thank Jess burns for her ongoing contribution towards the Breakfast Club program, working alongside Melissa for the last 18 months. Jess and Melissa have been a dynamic duo in ensuring students at Trafalgar Primary School have been able to start their day with a nutritious meal and support a smooth transition from home to school. Thank you Jess for this wonderful contribution.

Education Support Staffing Update

We’re pleased to confirm the reappointment of Christeena Smalley, Michelle Lintzeris, Robert Williams, and Sarah Nash to Education Support roles at Trafalgar Primary School in 2025. Each of these staff members has made a valuable contribution to our school, and we’re thrilled to have them continue supporting our students and teachers.

We also warmly welcome two new team members. Adam Cinemre, currently completing his first-year Pre-Service Teacher placement in LA7 with Mr Beamish, and Rebecca Brennan, who completed her Education Support placement with our 2024 Foundation Team. Both bring a strong understanding of our school context and we’re excited to see the impact they’ll make in their new roles.

P3 – Mr Nick Carter Appointed

We’re pleased to share with our school community that the classroom teacher role in P3 for the remainder of the 2025 school year will be filled by Mr Nick Carter, who will be teaching the class from Wednesday to Friday each week.

Mr Carter is already a familiar presence in the classroom, having worked regularly with P3 as a Casual Relief Teacher since Mrs Hardy’s departure. We are delighted to confirm him in this ongoing role and are confident that his appointment will bring stability, consistency, and strong support for our students.

The P3 students were informed of the news earlier this week and were enthusiastic about the announcement. It was wonderful to see their excitement and positivity about the term ahead.

We are currently finalising a permanent arrangement for Mondays and Tuesdays, which in the short term will continue to be covered by internal staff and members of the school’s leadership team. We look forward to confirming these details with families shortly.

We thank the P3 students and their families for their understanding and support during this period of transition, and we are excited about the term ahead under Mr Carter’s guidance.
