Around the School

Prep - The Easter Bunny
When the children were fast asleep, the Easter Bunny hoppity-hop-hop-hopped to work, delivering delicious chocolate eggs to children all over the world . . .
Prep B read, ‘Another Book About the Easter Bunny’ by Laura and Pillip Bunting and discovered that the Easter Bunny is eggsasperated, hopping mad and has quit! Much to our surprise, the Easter Bunny disappeared, but do not worry Prep found the Easter Bunny, and these are their drawings.
Year 1 - Harmony Day
Sound Waves at St Mary's Primary School
This year, we are using Sound Waves Literacy resources to support our teaching of spelling. Sound Waves Literacy aligns with the Victorian Curriculum and is informed by current scientific evidence on how children best learn to spell. Please take the time to read the parent flyer and what our students are saying about Sound Waves.
Library News
Thank you to all of our students for making the first Term SO much fun in the library! This Term we attempted to get the new Library Club off the ground, this Term was a little busy. Next Term we'll be off and racing! The children will be able to come to the library for half of lunch time every Wednesday. To read, investigate new books and really get to know and enjoy the space.
I had a very special helper in the library this week! I was so happy to have Miss Paula come and help me sort through the many picture and non-fiction books we have as we look to update our collections. She helped enormously and loved seeing so many of her students from previous years.
As we head into the holidays, things can be a little more relaxed it may be a great time to start a family read. A few of us here have read the book Runt by Craig Silvey – an absolutely beautiful, uplifting read that will appeal to all ages. An ideal family book to snuggle up with! Then perhaps celebrate by watching the movie after it!
Story time has started back and will run next Term as well. It starts at 3.10pm in the Zen Zone room please enter via the office. Please do not hesitate to touch base with me if you have any questions – katherine.reade@smstkildaeast.catholic.edu.au
Wishing all the children a relaxing break (and you if you can manage it!) and as always Happy Reading!!
