Around the College

Open Day

Open Day last weekend was a huge event, and a spectacular, authentic display of our inclusive, nurturing community in action. With a surplus of registrations eager to walk around the classrooms of Endeavour, we needed a lot of help to ensure a smooth and successful event.

A big, gigantic thank you to our amazing student volunteers. Every student who volunteered their time on Sunday to come to the College in full summer uniform not only demonstrated outstanding leadership and responsibility but also helped to effortlessly convey enthusiasm and pride in our College. From ushers to tour guides, classroom helpers to information desk attendants, you all were pivotal in the success of the day.

Thank you to the 93 students who put their hands up to assist. You were outstanding!

Poetry in Action

Poetry in Action has a history of wowing students across the country, and our experience here was no different. Both teachers and students always love engaging in their performances, with audiences being encouraged to interact with the actors. This year’s performance, Riots and Revolutions, explored some of the most powerful speeches ever crafted. These included Greta Thunberg’s climate change plea, Charlie Chaplin’s unity call, and Malala Yousafzai’s fight for education. The performance supported the current unit the year 8 students are exploring, What’s the Story? An exploration of persuasive language, in a way that gave students lived examples of how language is a force for social transformation. The show examined Aristotle’s persuasive modes of ethos, pathos and logos, encouraging students to connect how these ideas led to some of the most influential changes in the 21st century, including those within their lifetime. The group of actors made the act of learning fun and allowed students to step outside of the classroom in their learning and we all look forward to seeing them next year.
