Senior Music Fringe Shows

On March 12 and 15, Senior Music students had the opportunity to attend two music inspired Adelaide Fringe shows.

The first show, 27 Club, was a rock show commemorating artists who passed away at the age of 27 and was held in Gluttony. Ballads by Candlelight, was a cozy acapella quintet performance in the St Peter's Cathedral, featuring a group called The Idea of North.

Both shows were outstanding. Some of the artists featured in 27 Club were Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse and Jim Morrison. The style changed from soft rock to classic and heavy rock, which was very entertaining. There were multiple singers who took turns performing songs, each dressed up as the artist and doing a great job of emulating them in sound and style. Ballads by Candlelight included the group’s own acapella arrangements of songs from artists such as Paul Kelly, and they even had original songs written by the quintet’s talented alto. This was very slow-paced compared to 27 Club, and the candlelight atmosphere highlighted the performance perfectly. We all enjoyed the opportunity to see these incredible artists.

2025 Formal

On Friday, 28 March, the Class of 2025 donned their finest attire for the senior Formal, held at the Pavilion on South Terrace. Limousines, classic cars, and party buses chauffeured students to the Veale Gardens, where they stepped onto the red carpet amidst the flash of cameras and the admiration of guests.

The first hour of the event took place in the garden, where students celebrated with their families and staff, enjoying drinks, canapés, and professional photography. Speeches by Principal Mr Baird, Mr Vickery, and College Captains Luke and Emily acknowledged the Formal as an important rite of passage for our graduating class.

At 7:00pm, students and teachers entered the Ballroom, beautifully decorated with a 'Starry Night' theme. A presentation of photographs depicting the Class of 2025 in both Year 7 and Year 12 provided entertainment and nostalgia, as waiting staff served delicious food.

Students also enjoyed a photobooth with props to capture lasting memories of the night.

Miss Gray and Mr Bonini delivered a speech reminiscing about the journey undertaken by Year 12 students over the past five years, enhanced by humorous anecdotes and photos. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of student awards in categories such as 'Miss Congeniality,' 'Most Competitive,' and 'The Bromance,' as well as best dressed male and female.

A playlist curated by the Class of 2025, pumping from DJ Luca’s speakers, kept everyone on the dance floor until the final song played at 11:00pm. The night was undoubtedly one that our Year 12 students will remember forever. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Formal Committee, who dedicated their time to organising this fantastic event.

Stage 2 Outdoor Education Camp

Last week both of our Stage 2 Outdoor Education classes embarked on a three-day kayaking journey through Ral Ral Creek in the Riverland region. The students enjoyed the hot weather with water activities and afternoon swims but felt the streamy effects of the hot evening in the tents each night.

This did not diminish the great attitudes towards the challenge, which saw the groups paddling for up to eight hours on day two and experiencing a WWII Internment Camp at Woolenook Bend.

A great time was had around the cooking circle each night with 'creative' meals and plenty of laughs.

Year 10 Sport Coaching

As part of our Year 10 Health and Physical Education curriculum students learnt about how to coach groups of younger students.

After a couple of trial lessons with their peers acting as primary school kids, they experienced the real thing by heading to our Connected Schools to coach a small group of students, ranging from Year 3 to Year 6.

Our students were amazing, bringing a heap of enthusiasm and energy to the sessions, keeping the younger students engaged and motivated in their choice of sports. Thanks to

St Paul Lutheran, Golden Grove Lutheran and Good Shepherd Para Vista for allowing our students the opportunity to put the theory learned to practice.

GSPV Sports Day

A group of six Year 8 students were invited back to Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School as old scholars last Friday to help run some events at their annual Sports Day.

On arrival, our Year 8s were greeted by various teachers who were all keen to see them and welcome them back.

During the day Endeavour students helped with a range of events including climbing, racing, and the “chicken run” by measuring, counting, awarding participation ribbons and generally keeping equipment in place for each class.

A fun day was had by all!
