Students are continuing to actively develop their fundamental movement skills through a variety of games and learning activities. These skills, which include running, jumping, throwing, and catching, are essential for physical development and overall wellbeing.
Stage 1 teachers are incorporating fun and dynamic games that not only promote physical activity but also foster teamwork and cooperation among students. Activities such as obstacle courses, relay races, and modified sports are designed to engage students and encourage them to practise their skills in a supportive environment.
As students participate in these activities, they gain confidence in their abilities and learn the importance of physical fitness.
In Stage 1 history, students embarked on an exciting unit that explored the concepts of past, present, and future. This unit was designed to help students understand how family life has evolved over time and to make connections between their own lives and those of previous generations.
Throughout the unit, students engaged in inquiry-based learning, focusing on key questions that guided their exploration:
This inquiry unit not only enhanced students' historical understanding but also encouraged them to appreciate their own family stories and the significance of history in their everyday lives. Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, Stage 1 students developed critical thinking skills and a sense of identity as they explored the fascinating connections between the past, present, and future.
