Kookaburra Class

Mr. Wilson

Hi all,

Thanks for coming in for parent teacher interviews it’s been a productive couple of weeks and the 3/4s have smashed it, so well done!! We have been looking at money in maths and had some interesting challenges that the students have taken on, more about that from Caleb below. We have also been celebrating Harmony Day this week and have been lucky enough to have Alexa write a report about this for us.

Looking forward to the next couple weeks we have lots planned!

Harmony Day

What’s Harmony Day?

Harmony Day is celebrated on 21st of March every year in Australia. A day to celebrate Australia cultural diversity and foster inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all.

What year did Harmony Day start and why?

Harmony Day started in 1994, and it started because it’s a way to celebrate the country’s cultural diversity and promotes inclusiveness.

What colours do you wear on Harmony Day and why?

You wear orange for Harmony Day, because to signify social communication, meaningful conversations, and mutual respect, promoting inclusiveness and celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity.

Who invented Harmony Day and why?

John Howard who was a government, the reason he invented Harmony Day because to promote a singular and unifying notion of ‘Australian-ness’ within multicultural policy.

Thank you for listening and enjoy your day, thank you.

Alexa Russell.
