Sport

It’s been a very busy fortnight in PE! Here are some of the highlights,
Victorian Institute of Sport (Guest Speaker)
Last week, our Level 5/6 students were fortunate to be visited by Zali Ward, a hockey player who represented Australia in her teenage years and now plays professional hockey for Hockey Club Melbourne. She spoke to our students about her journey, the importance of training, diet, sleep, academics, goal setting, and more. The students loved the opportunity to hear from a professional athlete.
PE Program
Over the past fortnight, our students have been actively engaged in a variety of physical activities and assessments. Level 5/6 students have been completing jumping and fitness-based assessments, selecting their winter interschool sports for Term 2, and participating in team-based games during Friday morning sport. Level 3/4 students have also been working on their jumping and fitness assessments while learning how to be good team members and improve their skills during Friday afternoon sport. Level 1/2 students have been focusing on fundamental movements such as jumping, leaping, hopping, and skipping. Meanwhile, our Foundation students have been developing their confidence in PE-based rotations involving running, jumping, skipping, and hopping. It’s been a fantastic fortnight of movement and learning!
Congratulations to the following students who set new school records during our Beep Test:
- Grade 4 Girls Record – Rayani R
- Grade 5 Boys Record – Ollie C & Zach W
- Grade 6 Girls Record – Collette C
Whole School Cross Country
Less than 10 days to go until our annual Whole School Cross Country on March 31st! We are very excited to see the whole school in house colours, having a great day representing their houses and participating in long-distance running. Our Level 5/6 students will run 3 km (approximately five laps of the school), while our Level 3/4 students will run 2 km (approximately three laps). Our juniors will also participate, with Level 2 running two laps and Foundation & Level 1 completing one lap. We will send out more information, including start times, early next week! There will also be a presentation assembly in the afternoon.
