Foundation

Inquiry - Fire Rescue Visit 

It was great to have an information session given by two of our local firefighters. This was part of our Inquiry topic ‘Community Helpers’. They enjoyed presenting to a room full of penguins and pirates and gave us some homework - to discuss our safety plan at home and draw our safe meeting place. 

 Literacy 

We have continued to learn new sounds each week in Little Learners Love Literacy. We have used these new sounds to start writing sentences. We are so proud of all of the hard work the Foundation students have put into their Literacy learning this term.  

After we met Peter Penguin, we had a ‘Peter Penguin Pirate Party’. We had lots of fun dressing up and sharing food in each classroom!  

Maths 

So far in Maths this term we have had a big focus on Number. We have covered number sequences & counting collections, growth mindset, rote counting & 1:1 correspondence, writing numbers & subitising, patterns, days of the week and representing number.  We practised using a range of resources to represent numbers in different ways 🌟, created patterns, built number towers and played some fun games to practise number recognition. 

Discovery  

This term we opened up all of the Foundation classrooms and students have had the opportunity to explore different learning spaces across the two Foundation areas. We created spaces based on student interest, incorporating student voice and agency in their learning. We made ice creams and served them at the beach, played in the campsite, cooked and cleaned up in the home corner, dressed up in emergency services costumes, played with babies in the nursery, constructed building projects with various materials, worked on projects using recycled materials from the Upcycle Station and so much more!  

German – Schultuten 

We had our wonderful Level 6 buddies present Foundation students with their Shultüte to celebrate the beginning of their school journey at Rangeview. It was such a special afternoon and very exciting for all involved. 

 Buddies 

All classes have met with their new Level 5 or 6 buddy and have really enjoyed spending time together. 

We cannot wait to continue our learning next term!
