Principal's Report

Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2025

What a fabulous fortnight we have had at Rangeview! Our Level 3 and Level 5 students have completed NAPLAN, students from across the school have participated in Chess Club, Lego Club, and Coding Club, our P&F has run a Bunnings Bake Sale and a Welcome Mixer at the HCC, our Rangeview Fathering Tribe (RAFT) has run a Camp Out on the school oval, The resilience Project ran a Parent Session online for our families, Level 1 & 2 students have participated in a Science Incursion, our teaching staff have participated in the third of a series of professional learning sessions on the teaching model - Building Thinking Classrooms, and today our whole school is celebrating Harmony Day!

School Review 2025

In 2021 we last went through a year of school review. This was a time when we were able to work with a Department of Education appointed reviewer, our Senior Improvement Leader, and two challenge partners to look at our progress as a school over the previous 4 years and consider where to from here for the next four. This is our final year of this strategic plan and as such we will be going through a year of School Review and Strategic Planning this year.

Our official review is in Term 3. The school completes a pre-review self evaluation (PRSE) prior to this and we will start this process in Term 1. All staff, our school council, and some of our students will be involved in the School Review Process. We will reach out to the school community for parents/carers interested in sitting on focus groups during this review process.

The culmination of this work will be a new School Strategic Plan 2026 – 2029.

NAPLAN 2025

Our Level 3 and 5 students have been completing their NAPLAN assessments over the last two weeks. Much of these assessments are now online with only the Level 3 Writing task being pen to paper.

NAPLAN is reported in Bands. The 4 bands are Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs Additional Support. These bands were introduced in 2023 and this change has resulted in an inability for schools to compare student growth results 2022 - 2024. We have started with a new data set from 2023 and all comparisons will be made into the future from now.

All of the participating students engaged with the testing positively and we are very proud of their efforts.

RAFT Camp Out

On Saturday 15th our wonderful fathers group RAFT ran another hugely successful school camp out. Over 140 members of our school community joined the RAFT leaders to camp overnight on the oval.

Despite the extreme heat, and then spots of rain, the campers had a wonderful time with water play, treasure hunts, pizza dinner, toasting marshmallows, sleeping under stars, and a BBQ breakfast.

Our thanks go to Byron Wilding and Simon Tan for putting on this event for our community.

P& F Bunnings Bake Sale

On Saturday 15th our P&F Committee together with lots of wonderful parent volunteers, ran a Bunnings Bake sale at the Nunawading Bunnings. Hundreds of tasty treats were sold on the day and almost $1000 profit was made for the school.

Huge thanks to Brooke Kirke, the P&F Committee and all the families who baked for this event.

Harmony Day 21st March

Today we celebrated Harmony Day across the school. There was a focus on cultural diversity and students worked in buddy grades on activities and lessons that educate and celebrate our community’s cultural diversity. We began with a huge smiley face on the oval, we moved into a whole school celebration assembly, then we had a Big Muncheon as a shared lunch.  We met our Buddies in the middle of the day for Harmony Day activities and we finished the day with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country with Aunty Merlyn Duff, and a Bollywood Dance lesson for the whole school.

What a Harmonious school!

Nude Food

We would like to encourage families to embrace Nude Food for the student's lunchboxes where ever possible. The classes each get time to work together to clean up the play spaces, but it is a big help if families do not send wrappers to school at all.

As always - the school we have is the one we build together.
