The Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition will take place next term. This is an opportunity to develop public speaking skills, increase awareness of multicultural issues, and improve confidence.
Public speaking is a skill that students develop over time, and all students have different levels of confidence. Due to this, the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition will continue to be optional this year. It will be the students’ and parents' choice whether they are ready to present a speech to their class and/or stage.
Students who wish not to participate will be supported in class by being given opportunities to speak in front of audiences in a less formal setting, to feel success and build understanding as part of our syllabus.
If your child wishes to participate in the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition, they will be shared more information next week by their class teacher and newsletter.
Schools generally don’t administer medication that hasn’t been requested for an individual student’s specific condition. In some cases, the medical practitioner may not write a prescription for such medication because it may be available 'over the counter'. NSW Health advises that ‘over the counter’ medication may still be harmful and that schools should follow the same procedures for non-prescribed medications as for prescribed medications. This includes medications such as nasal spray.
When a medical practitioner has prescribed medication that must be administered during the school day, either on a temporary basis or as part of an individual health support plan, parents or carers must:
We are excited to invite K-2 families to start to join assemblies from Week 9 this term, Friday 28 March. The below schedule for Semester 1 will help families organise their time if they would like to attend during a week when their child's class presents:
Week | Pod |
Term 1 | |
9 (28 Mar) | Frog |
11 (11 April) | Easter Hat Parade - No Assembly |
Term 2 | |
3 (16 May) | Platypus |
5 (30 May) | Turtle |
7 (13 June) | Water Dragon |

This year students in Kindergarten and Stage 1, will have the opportunity to make Easter Hats in their classroom. Our Easter Hat parade will take place on Friday 11 April. More details about the parade will be communicated to parents in the lead up to the event.
Students will be provided with the base of the hat at school. Students will decorate their hats during week 9 with their peers and teachers. Classroom Teachers will contact the class parent about opportunities for parents to come into the classroom to help with decorations.
Parents are asked to provide their children with decorations and materials that can easily attach to cardboard hats with a glue stick. This includes items like foam stickers, feathers, and decorative paper. Please see the examples.
Students are requested to start bringing in these items from home, in preparation for decorating in Week 9.
Students in Stage 2 & 3 are more than welcome to create a hat at home. All students will have the opportunity to show their designs to the whole school community on the day of the parade.
Firstly, thank you to all the families that donated money towards the pod libraries last year. In each pod there is an excellent selection of books chosen by the students and staff.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the parents/caregivers who volunteered to help contact the books for the pod libraries! We really appreciate your time and skill.
I would like to say a special thank you to our Library Technician, Sieun Lee, who led multiple workshops and has gone above and beyond supporting the creation of the pod libraries.
The wonderful news is that students are enjoying the books! Mr Matthews expressed that students are actively seeking out the next books in the series that the pod library offers. It is great to see the students expanding their reading and interests.
Many thanks to all involved.
With gratitude,
Lara Bullen on behalf of the 2024 Prefect team
