Fearfully and wonderfully made

As we have begun our year together as a new community of learners in Preschool, we have begun learning more about each other, and the unique differences and similarities we share.

Our Christian studies teaching and learning has been guided by the scripture “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” as we explore together to learn more about Creation and the unique and beautiful person God has created each one of us to be.

Using the medium of paints, our class have created a Preschool gallery of self-portraits. Proudly displayed in our classroom, each self-portrait is a representation of each valued Preschool class member.

“These self-portraits are windows into the children’s identities. Their details tell us how the children see themselves and what they choose to emphasis in their drawing about themselves.” (Ann Pelo)

As we play alongside each other, there are moments of learning as we are building our capacities to negotiate our new play spaces, to make new friendships and connections, extend our play interests with enthusiasm and try to experience new and exciting opportunities together.

Building and fostering a sense of belonging for each individual contributes to the ever-growing sense of confidence and comfort children are displaying as our term continues together.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14 NIV)
